Memo/Extended and Final One Page Paper
The class started with talking about the First Amendment and quickly progressed to the online world of journalism. By the end of the semester we had our own news story with our own multimedia packages. We used all the different sites we talked about in class and the high-tech flip cams to film different elements of our story. We used Bill Blundell’s six elements to make sure we had the story...

Difficulties
Everything with technology! I tried to conquer Kaltura. It was hard for me to take an emotional story to me and report on it. These girls were not my best freinds, but I knew them well. I have memories of jumping on my trampoline with Christina, sitting at my lunch table freshman year with Ali, and having a few conversations with Jackie when she was over hanging out with my little sister. I...

Stepping out of my comfort zone
The project in Journalism 80 made me step out of my comfort zone. I am comfortable with a pen and paper, but when it came to the web I wasn’t so comfortable. Especially with making media files, using the flip cams and different websites to turn our stories into video.
Honda goes Hydro
Like the Toyota Prius the new Honda is going green! This car uses hydrogen and emits, not carbon dioxide and other hazardous ozone depleting gases, but water! Currently there are 20 of these cars in the US and 7 in Japan. Hopefully they will catch on like the prius did with celebrites, and they will be all over with numerous hydrogen refuel centers across the United States.

News Hub
Yestrday was a very exciting day for everyone who has some kind of affiliation to Dempster Hall in Hofstra University. It was the Grand Opening of the News Hub, or the new converged newsroom. New technologies were explored as students (like myself), professors, and faculty gathered to see the unvieling of the highly-anticipated newsroom. I am glad that I am a junior and stilll have a year and a...

Hogan doesn't always know best!
A suprising split recently graced tabloids. It is between retired professional WWF wrestler Hulk or Terry Hogan and Linda Marie Bollea. The couple seemed happy with thier marriage of 24 years, but apparently everything was not ok in the reality tv household. After 24 years and two children, Brooke and Nick, LInda shocked Hulk and filed for divorce!
Myth Proved Wrong
Everyone loves to blame the enzyme Triptophane in Turkey for making the family lethargic after a big Thanksgiving feast. The truth of the matter is that no one can possibly eat enough turkey for the enzyme to have such an effect on thier brain. The sleepiness that comes about on Thanksgiving is most likely due to overeating and barley sleeping the night before (Thanksgiving eve is said to be one...
Excitement on the Hofstra Campus

Broadway Strike
It has already been 16 days since the last Broadway performance. The strike has cost New York city over 2 million dollars since November 18th. The striking stagehands and Broadway producer’s league need to resolve this issue and get the shows abck on Broadway. Broadway has been one of America’s favorite pastimes for over a century, it needs to come back!
Crowdsourcing
Today in class we went over this neologism, founded in 2006. As a classmate stated, “its a way a person or company asks the public for help.” One example was when a 21-year old man saw the girl of his dreams in the subway. He then set up a website with a sketch asking the public to help him find her. The love-struck young man found her soon after! Another example was when a Seattle...
Election Day
Unfortunatley on Election Day I was busy with classes and work, so I was unable to go out and interview the community to see what they felt about the candidates and current issues. I enjoyed watching my peers’ work on nassau news about the election.
